The course includes two parts, preliminary reading on online platform in February 2020 and an intensive week in St. Petersburg 1-6 March 2020. Both parts are compulsory for the participating students.

Teaching methods

The objective of the intensive course is to discuss environmental consciousness and recycling waste in Russia and Finland. In the innovation workshops students from participating universities will work together in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, developing new business ideas in the field of recycling waste and circular economy with the help of Sustainable Business Model Canvas.

The course includes two parts, preliminary reading on online platform in February 2020 and an intensive week in St. Petersburg 1-6 March 2020. Both parts are compulsory for the participating students.

Study language is English. The course fits to all study programs and can be accepted as part of free-choice studies.
This is also a great chance to get acquainted with young people in our neighbour country!

Learning materials

The needed advance and other material will be accessible on online platform in February.
During the stay in St. Petersburg there will be visiting lectures and company visits.

Student workload

Student work load 5 x 27 h including an intensive week in St. Petersburg.

Completion alternatives

The course consists of the following assignments:
• preliminary reading
• a short presentation (max. 10-15 minutes) connected to course topics, alone or in pairs in St. Petersburg
• lectures, company visits, innovation workshops during the intensive course week
• learning diary (1-2 pages per day), analyzing and reflecting the course themes from the point of view of their own study lines

Practical training and working life cooperation

Visiting lectures and company visits during the stay in St. Petersburg.

International connections

The course is organized together with Aleksanteri Institute (University of Helsinki), ITMO University (RU) and North-West Institute of Management (RU).
Work in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams in St. Petersburg.

Further information

The costs of the intensive week (travelling, accommodation, visa, insurance and partly lunches) are covered by FIRST+ grant.

Tampere University of Applied Sciences has got 5 study places for this year.

The student needs to have a passport that is valid also 6 months after the journey. There should be at least two empty pages in the passport and it shall be in good condition, i.e. no idle pages. For the visa application, a standard passport color photo, no more than six months old, is needed.

Pls note that in Russia there are limitations for granting a visa to citizens of certain countries or in case of dual citizenship.
