Objectives (course unit)
The student
- is able to communicate professionally with patients, their significant others and colleagues by observing nursing values and principles;
- is able to support, guide and empower patients' self-care and help patients in their daily activities by using safe nursing interventions;
- is able to monitor the patient's vital signs to identify the patient's basic needs;
- is able to make a nursing plan for his/her own patient in a holistic way, and give an oral and written report;
- is able to work ergonomically and follow aseptic principles;
- is able to safely implement patients' medication and fluid therapy under supervision;
- is able to plan his/her own personal learning outcomes and evaluate his/her learning during the clinical training;
- is able to identify his/her own development challenges.

- initial stage studies must be completed 
- supervised clinical training 1 completed 
- the student has participated in both the theory and Orientation to Clinical Training courses of nursing care of the clinical environment in question

Assessment methods and criteria
Self-evaluation, evaluation from mentor nurse, teacher's evaluation.
All required hours must be completed. In case of abscence due to any reason, the student must replace the missed hours. 
Shift table and evaluation form must be completed according to given istructions, original versions signed and returned to teacher.
Written assignments must be done.
Student should update medication passport.

Teaching methods
Supervised Clinical Training. Theory studies and orientation to clinical training in the chosen area of nursing field must be studied before the clinical training.

Student workload
Total hours 162h. This includes orientation lecture 2h, planning personal learning goals, self-evaluation, written assignments, in total 4h.
The student should work 156 h/ 4weeks. If a reflection meeting is organised, then total hours are 154h /4 weeks.
