Objectives (course unit)
Student is able to
- design based on user needs
- apply iterative design methods and produce personas, scenarios, use cases, flow charts, storyboards and prototype
- analyse, design and evaluate user-friendly interactive functionality
- develop interactive media concepts in a user-centered way
- collaborate in an international student team.
Content (course unit)
User-centered concept development: research, modeling, functional requirements, prototypes, evaluation methods, sustainable development.

Location and time
Online learning, the students need own device and web cam. Reserve days (9-15) : 1.-3.9. & 8.-10.9. & 15.-17.9.2020
Assessment scale

Teaching methods
Lessons, team work, presentations, assignments. This course consists lectures, and a lot of Learning by doing.
Learning materials
The teacher will instruct about learning materials during the course.
Student workload
In addition to lessons and team work the students work with the UX handbook and other assignments as well.
Content scheduling
Target group understanding and modeling: user research, interview, empathy map, persona, scenario. Ideation, storyboarding, paper prototyping, usability testing basics.
Practical training and working life cooperation
The students will connect to the working life through assignments.
Further information
This course is part of User Experience Design minor. The course is for those students who have taken Media Work Methods course or/and Introduction to User Experience Design course earlier. In other cases the students need to contact the teacher before the course.
