Orientation to Clinical Training: Surgical Nursing (1 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to guide the surgical patient in the pre- and postoperative phases
- is able to care for the surgical wound and guide the patient in the treatment of the wound
- is able to make various wound dressings and supportive slings
- is able to plan, implement and assess the patient's parenteral nutrition
- is able to apply the principles of aseptics and promote patient safety

Content (course unit)

- surgical wound care
- surgical dressings and supportive slings
- parenteral nutrition and fluid therapy for a surgical patient
- care of a tracheostomised patient

Prerequisites (course unit)

First year studies 50 ects completed, including the course on Pharmacotherapy and Medical Calculations.
Participation in the courses on Surgical Nursing and Intravenous Fluid Therapy and Blood Transfusion.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Pass
The student
- is able to plan and implement surgical nursing safely
- works professionally and ethically

Fail
The student
- puts patient safety at risk

Teaching methods

Tiedot täydenyvät tarvittaessa ennen toteutuksen alkua.
Luokassa tapahtuva kliininen harjoittelu, aktiivinen osallistuminen tunneilla.
Orientoivan harjoittelun tunnit ovat läsnäolovelvollisia.

Student workload

Opiskelijalle kokonaistuntimäärä 27 tuntia, josta lähiopetusta 12 tuntia ja itsenäisen opiskelun osuus 15 tuntia

Osa 1 kirurgisen haavan hoito (4h)
Osa 2 kirurgiset sidokset ja trakeostomoidun potilaan hoito (4 h)
Osa 3 kirurgisen potilaan parenteraalinen ravitsemus ja nestehoito (4h)

Further information

Alkuvaiheen opinnoista on suoritettava 50 op ennen keskivaiheen opintoihin siirtymistä.
Osallistuminen opintojaksoihin kirurgisen potilaan hoitotyö ja laskimonsisäinen nestehoito ja verensiirto.
Tarkennettu sisältö:
- kirurgisen haavan hoito
- kirurgiset sidokset
- kirurgisen potilaan parenteraalinen ravitsemus ja nestehoito
- trakeostomoidun potilaan hoito
Parenteraalisen ravitsemuksen ja nestehoidon orha toteutuu Taitokeskuksessa, muut orhat Kuntokadun hoitoluokissa

Hyväksytyn suorituksen edellytykset:
- 100 % läsnäolo harjoitustunneilla
- aktiivinen osallistuminen harjoitustunneilla
- annettujen tehtävien tekeminen ajallaan
- ammatillinen käyttäytyminen harjoitustunneilla
- tunnille ei voi osallistua jos myöhästyy.
