Structured Data Search (3 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to define a basic study question in the health sciences and perform a structured data search
- understands the grounds of good scientific practice
- understands the meaning of evidence-based practice in nursing
- knows the clinical guidelines based on health care
- is able to identify scientific / professional sources of information in their field and is able to retrieve them systematically
- is able evaluate and use information sources

Content (course unit)

- structured data search and literature critique
- grounds of good scientific practice
- evidence-based practice in nursing
- the most important national and international databases and clinical guidelines in the field of health sciences

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student
- knows the basics of a structured data search
- perceives the importance of evidence-based knowledge in nursing.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student
- is able to describe the structured data search process
- understands the importance of evidence-based practice in nursing.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student
- is able to implement a structured data search with detailed explanations
- is able to apply evidence-based knowledge and clinical guidelines in nursing.

Content scheduling

Osa 1: Teoria: sisältää tentin, seminaaritehtävän ja muut tehtävät. Tentti arvioidaan numeerisesti, seminaari- ja muut tehtävät hyväksytty/hylätty. Seminaaritehtävä sisältää kirjallisen vertaisarvioinnin. Muina tehtävinä tutkimusartikkeli-tehtävä ja hoitosuositus-tehtävä.

Pakollinen 100% läsnäolo ensimmäisellä luentokerralla, informaatikon tiedonhaun tunneilla ja seminaarissa. Kaikki annetut tehtävät on suoritettava hyväksytysti.
