Objectives (course unit)
The student
- is able to evaluate his/her own and others’ values, attitudes and expectations regarding ageing and its effects on nursing, and intervenes to correct possible flaws if necessary;
- knows the service system structure for elderly people and its operational principles;
- knows the normal changes caused by ageing and can distinguish them from pathological ones;
- knows essential gerontological nursing methods and related technological applications;
-is able to guide aged people and significant others in health promotion;
-is able to act as a nursing expert in multidisciplinary teams.

Assessment methods and criteria
Suoritus arvioidaan numeerisesti. Arviointiin vaikuttaa työskentelyjakson aikana tehty hoitosuunnitelma Doccaan ja näyttöpäivän suoritukset. Suorituksen arviointi edellyttää myös tabula-alustalla annettujen oppimistehtävien tekemistä työskjentelyjakson aikana.

Teaching methods
Tämä opintojakso toteutetaan opinnollistamalla omassa hoitotyön johdon alaisessa työpaikassa. Hyväksyminen toteutukselle edellyttää vähintään lähihoitajan työsopimusta sekä hoitotyön työympäristöä, jossa opintojakson tavoitteet voi toeutua.
