Objectives (course unit)
Student is able to
- take diverse blood samples ( venapuncture,caplillary blood: heel, ear lobe, finger)
- handle specimens appropriately
- use information systems in laboratory
- know assay principles in analysers
- work in automatic production line
- analyse specimens in analysers
- assess quality of laboratory tests
- assay blood gas analyses
- analyse urine and other body fluids in analysers and morphologically
- make basic analyses of urine cells and other particles morphologically
- define blood count in cell automation
- make blood smear and bone marrow preparations and stain them with MGG- staining
- identify and report pathological blood cells
- identify and report red cell morphology
- produce basic laboratory examinations related to blood transfusion serology
- know areas of responsibility in blood services
- know the role and responsibility in point of care testing
- use professional knowledge for laboratory work
- work ergonomically and safely
- take ethical, moral and economic issues into account in decision making

Prerequisites (course unit)
The student mast have passed 7B00BC23 Orientation Haematology and Basic Tests, 7B00BC44 Diagnostics of Anaemias and Malignant Blood Diseases, and partly 7B00BC25 Examination of Haemostasis and Blood Coagulation and Quality Management in Clinical Haematology.
The student mast have passed 7B00BC49-51 Basic Tests in Clinical Chemistry I-III .
The student must have passed 7B00BB94 Immunohaematology
