Objectives (course unit)
The student can
- evaluate operations and solutions of a company against its strategy and productivit
- identify company’s success factors, operation systems and basics principles of marketing and management
- understand economical thinking, cost structures and most important business indicators
- understand the role of entrepreneurship in national economy
- different company forms and recognize own possibilities to develop himself in business field.
The students can
- understand the importance of quality for company
- different consepts of quality and knows the principles of quality and operation management
- use basic quality tools and knows continuous quality improvement methods.

Business Operations and Entrepreneurship
- business idea, company’s operating environment and stakeholders
- company’s strategies and success factors
- operation systems, management, leadership and marketing.
- company’s cost structure
- basic principles of financial calculations, productivity and other important business indicators
- the importance of entrepreneurship in Finnish national economy
- company forms, starting a company, properties and skills required from the entrepreneur
Quality and Operation Management
- consepts and definitions of quality
- central quality theories, quality control systems, quality standads and quality award models
- the use of quality tools in quality control, quality management and in continuous improvement.
