Objectives (course unit)
Students
- are able to collect different kind of laboratory samples reliably and safely (including blood, urine, faecal samples, Papanicolaou's tests, and clinical microbiology samples)
- master basic use of laboratory information systems as regards sample collection process
- master the most common practices in sample handling, preservation and transportation
- are able to perform ECG registration, evaluate reliability of results, and select acceptable measurements
- strive to carry out good-quality client service and are able to apply their communication and guidance skills in client service and work community
- understand the meaning of clinical laboratory work in the health care system and patient care and the meaning of multiprofessional cooperation in the service chain
- understand the process of clinical laboratory work
- are able to perform point of care tests (and potentially some basic analyses)

Collection of diverse samples, their handling, sorting, and transportation
Use of information systems in sample collection process
Registration of adult ECG

Point of care testing and the most common laboratory analyses in basic clinical training

Prerequisites (course unit)
The student must have passed the courses 7B00BB78 Preanalytics and Sample Collection Procedure and 7B00BB79 Sampling and Point of Care Testing before the course 7B00BC04 Basic Clinical Training in Preanalytics and POC Testing and Patient Examinations. The student must have passed the courses 7B00BC00 registration of adult ECG .
