Objectives (course unit)

Students
- know the routine pathology laboratory practice in the clinical training place
- can do the most common cytological and histological preparations
- take into account quality assurance and occupational safety
- can act according to rules of work community
- can act ethically taking into account professional secrecy, privacy protection, and patients’ rights

Content (course unit)

Reception and preparation of samples
Preparation of cytological samples (e.g. cytocentrifuge and smears)
Preparation of histological samples (processing, embedding, cutting, staining)
Acquaintance with immunohistochemical and frozen methods if possible
Quality assurance and occupational safety in pathology laboratory
Work community skills

Prerequisites (course unit)

The student must have passed 7B00BC29 Orientation to Clinical Cytology and 7B00BC30 Preparation of Tissue Sections and Recognition of Tissues before the course

The course is implemented as supervised clinical training in hospital pathology laboratories.
