Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to administer a patient's medication care safely;
- knows the correct medication calculation;
- is able to use various databases in decision making of medication care;
- is able to give an injection subcutaneously and intramuscularly, in accordance with patient safety.

Content (course unit)

- plan, administer and evaluate safe pharmacological treatment
- use of various medication databases
- subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

Prerequisites (course unit)

Participating in the following courses: Medication administration, Medication calculation and Intravenous fluid therapy.

100% attendance with active participation . Approved criteria, tasks, and safe actions.

Student workload

27 hours total, of which 11 hours at school an 16 hours of independent studying. Writing the criteria for safe SC and IM injection administration and filling in the Medication Administration Record beforehand is mandatory. Mandatory tasks must be taken on paper to the classes.

Assessment criteria - pass/fail (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

FAIL:
The student does not participate in every session-
The criteria for safe IM and SC injections are not fulfilled in actions.
The student is passive in the class.
PASS:
The student is active and present in every session.
The criteria for safe IM and SC injections are fulfilled in actions.
