Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to
- schedule and resource a small-scale light and sound production or performance event
- use modern lightning equipment and be able to take into account the active and contextual possibilities of a performance
- collaborate in an international student team.

Content (course unit)

- Rigging light equipment safely
- Basic principles of stage planning
- Lightning software and hardware

Prerequisites (course unit)

Basics of the subject.

Evaluation methods and criteria

The students are able to:
- understand the basics of lighting design process

Completion alternatives

Student who has been working professionally as a lighting designer or has former studies of stage and/or event lighting design, may compensate part of this course by doing extra tasks. In such cases, the student needs to be active and contact Maaret Salminen (firstname.lastname@tamk.fi) on beforehand by email to get further instructions. Deadline for this is 20.1.2018.

Preliminary task/independet working:
29.1.-2.2. (deadline 2.2. in Tabula). Instructions will be given to participants in Tabula, which opens on 26.1.2018 (enrolled students will be added as participants automatically - no key needed)

Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student hands in the assignments. Assignments show descent skills. Student attends at least 40% of classes. Student shows descents participation in classes.

Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student hands in most of the assignments in time. Assignments show good skills. Student attends at least 60% of classes. Student shows active participation in classes.

Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student hands in all assignments in time. All the assignments show exceptional skills. Student attends at least 80% of classes. Student shows very active participation in classes.
