Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to make a small video project that includes the basics of camerawork and editing.
Student understands the role of Moving image art as part of contemporary Art. Student is able to collaborate in an international student team.

Content (course unit)

Student makes a presentation of a video work in contemporary art context.
Student makes a storyboard and shoots video material.
Student edits a short video work.

Tue 30.10. Students' presentation: show a short clip (max 2 min)of a film or video editing you like, the clip should be taken from an artwork (contemporary art), Introduction to editing; bring some video material you shot for the task, editing starts
Wed 31.10. Student makes a synopsis and a simple storyboard and shoots more video material according it, editing continues

Assessment methods and criteria

5 Excellent
At least 80 % attendance on contact lessons, an excellent video project. Student can articulate their visions and opinions with a clear structure and in fluent English. Student shows that they have an excellent knowledge in the area of the subject of the course and that they have a good over all view of the contemporary art context. Student uses fluently determinations and vocabulary of the subject. Student knows principles and practices of editing and Final Cut Pro X. The artistic project made in the course shows profound thinking and the expression is finessed in detail.

Good quality in all tasks, all tasks delivered, active participation.
At least 80 % attendance in contact lessons. Student is able to edit a short video work. Student shows that they have knowledge in the area of the subject of the courses and that they have a good over all view of the context. Student is able to use basic determinations and vocabulary of the subject. Sthe project has been made successfully.

Further information

Student must attend the most of the lessons (80%) but if there is a really good reason we can negotiate the alternative tasks.
Evaluation is based on following:
- Student must show an active workflow
- Deliver tasks on required time
- Show required technical skills
- Show artistic approach in their video project
Student must speak fluent English and be able to take apart discussions actively.
Student must know the basics of contemporary art and video editing.
