Objectives (course unit)

The students are able to:
- Design for specific target groups, markets and media
- Use up to date user research and usability methods
- Deepen their knowledge in user-centered design, interaction design and user interface design
- Deepen their professional identity as user experience designers

Content (course unit)

For example: Future of interactive media consuming. Advanced Contextual Design. Latest innovation in the area. Emerging trends in interaction design and user interface design.

Basics of the subject

Evaluation methods and criteria

Active participation. The quality of the deliverables and UX portfolio.

Assessment scale

0-5

Teaching methods

Contact teaching, team work, asssignments, individual research task, visitors.

Student workload

Reserve contact teaching days and time for individual research and other tasks. In addition to contact teaching and assignments the students work with own UX portfolio as well.

Content scheduling

Preliminary contact teaching dates (changes are possible): 30.-31.10 6.11. 13.11.-14.11 20.11. 27.11. 11.12.
Accessibility and eye tracking. Design Sprint. UX book club. UX portfolio.

Completion alternatives

The student should talk individually with the teacher if the situation demands

Practical training and working life cooperation

The students will connect to the working life through assignments.

Further information

This course is for those who have earlier knowlegde and studies on user experience design. For example the student:
-have accomplish the other courses in ux minor (User-Centered Design, User Interface Design and Usability and Service Design) or
-have similar level of understanding about user experience design, UI design and usability - in that case the student should inform the lecturer about earlier studies or work history.
This course is part of User Experience Design minor.

- Attendance: Low
- Satisfactory quality of the team work and presentation
- Satisfactory quality of the individual research tasks

Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

- Attendance: The student attends most of the contact teaching and takes actively part to discussions
- Good quality of the team work and presentation
- Good quality of the individual research tasks

Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

- Attendance: The student attends almost all contact teaching and takes actively part to discussions
- Excellent quality of the team work and presentation
- Excellent quality of the individual research tasks
