Objectives (course unit)
After completing Bachelor's Thesis students can plan, implement and evaluate an independent research or development project. Students can use the skills achieved during the studies in an innovative way, producing something new.

Prerequisites (course unit)
As a prerequisite, the course in Scientific Methods should be completed before doing the Bachelor's Thesis.
Completion of basic engineering and professional studies is highly recommended:
Engineering tools 1-3
Structure and Function of Natural and Industrial Environments 1-3
Engineer's Working Life Skills and RDI
Environmental and Civil Engineering
Environmental Management and Administration
Location and time
All final thesis related discussions are to be agreed together with your supervisors. Final thesis seminars are arranged during Spring and Autumn semesters and they will be informed separately. A student is responsible for reserving time for presenting his/her Bachelor's thesis seminar.
Exam schedules
A student has to write a maturity test in the end of the Bachelor's thesis project. More instructions on the test can be found from the study guide.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Bachelor's thesis is assessed by using the Criteria for Assessing the Thesis. You can find the assessment criteria from the thesis instructions from the Study Guide.

Teaching methods
Contact teaching and coaching. Seminar presentation in the end of the Bachelor's thesis project. A student has to participate at least to ten (10) Bachelor's thesis seminar presentations during his/her studies.
Learning materials
Lecture materials and articles from the Scientific Methods course. Reading materials suggested by supervisors.
Student workload
A student's calculatory time resource for doing her/his thesis is 405 hours of work. Student is responsible for her/his own time management.
Completion alternatives
Bachelor's thesis is a mandatory part of the Bachelor's degree.
Practical training and working life cooperation
It is highly recommended that a student finds her/his thesis topic from a company or some other organization.
