Objectives (course unit)

After completing this course student:
- Knows the principles of risk assessment and management from the point of view of corporate sustainability
- Can identify hazards to people and the environment
- Can control risks particularly to individuals, organizations and the environment
- Knows the principles of risk communication

Content (course unit)

Occupational safety and health risks, environmental risks, risk assessment, risk management.

Prerequisites (course unit)

Student should have all basic studies done before taking this course. At least, student should have completed her/his course on Basics for Environmental Technology and Management or equivalent.

Location and time

All lecture times are announced in LUKKARIKONE (https://lukkarit.tamk.fi/). In order to stay up-to-date with the course schedule, you need to participate the lectures.

Exam schedules

The exam will be organized through the TAMK's electronic examination service (exam room, "Tenttiterraario"). Students will be informed about the exam schedule during the course.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Course will be evaluated based on exam (50%) and group work (50%).

Contact teaching during the lectures, self-study/distance learning, assignments, presentations and practical work.

Teaching materials will be announced during the course. Lecture materials can be accessed via Tabula.

Student workload

Contact teaching (approx. 20 h) and seminars (approx. 6 h), self-study approx. 55 h. Approximately 81 h in total.
