Objectives (course unit)

Students are able to:
-Use the most common measuring devices in telecommunications technology (Spectrum Analyzer, Modulation Analyzer, RF generator)
-Analyze the measured and simulated results obtained
-Make a measurements and prepare a report
-Apply for measurements related material from literature and the network

R&D, Simulation, RF generator, Spectrum, Network and Modulation Analyzer, Cellular Network Analyzer (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G), pre- and post-report

Basics in data communications, Data communications, Digital Communications, Wireless communications, Radio Network Planning, RF-design, CCNA

Exam schedules

Laboratory exam (practical measurements)in week 50/2017. Laboratory exam includes three kinds of practical measurement task measurements taken for laboratory work. Exam schedule will be announced during the week 49/2017

Evaluation methods and criteria

Working in the laboratory , teamwork, reports (pre- and post-report), accepted performance in the laboratory exam (practical measurements).

Content scheduling

Works made according to schedule in laboratory. Schedule and group allocation is made in week 35. Laboratory works will start as scheduled on week 36

Completion alternatives

Personal / group-specific extensive project work related to telecommunications. The topic and the extent varies case by case basis

Practical training and working life cooperation

The laboratory performed measurements has been designed in conjunction with the telecommunications companies operating in R & D sector.

International connections

The course is offered to all International exchange students. The number of credits will be agreed case by case basis (up to 10 cr)

Knows how to operate measurement equipment and comfortable with design software. Course assignments do not contain considerable flaws and are mainly given on time. Passable group function skills.

Knows how to apply course topics in real life. Course assignments are mainly done according to specifications and returned on time. Knows how to work with measurement equipment and how to use design software. Good group working skills.

Extensive capabilities to utilize course topics in real life and capabilities to demonstrate these traits. Course assignments are done according to specifications and returned on time. Capable of producing accurate measurement data and competence to analyze the results. Proactive group working skills.
