Nursing Science in Past and Now (3cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- knows what science and nursing science are;
- is aware of the meaning of other sciences for nursing science and nursing practice;
- knows the historical bases behind the current state of the field;
- understands the meaning of nursing science in nursing practice and social decision-making;
- knows the basics of scientific argumentation and evidence-based thinking.

Content (course unit)

- science, nursing science and its relationship to other sciences;
- the historical development of nursing science
- recent nursing research as a basis for nursing practice and science
- using nursing science in decision-making in social and health care in society
- basis for scientific argumentation and evidence-based practice

Opintojakso suoritetaan esseetyönä ja sen esityksenä. Läsnäolo on 80 % pakollinen. Mahdollisesta poissaolon korvaavasta tehtävästä sovitaan yhdessä kurssin vetäjän kanssa. Luennoilla läsnä olo 80%.
Jos et pääse luennoille ja seminaareihin, voit suorittaa kurssin myös kirjatenttinä tenttiterraariossa.

Teaching methods

Opetusmenetelminä ovat keskusteluluennot sekä paritöinä tehtävä kirjallinen essee, josta jokainen työpari pitää seminaariesityksen. Ohjeet esseen tekemiseen ja esittämiseen annetaan aloitusluennolla. Läsnäolo on pakollinen.
