Objectives (course unit)
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)is a tool for the systematic evaluation of the environmental aspects of a product or service system through all stages of its life cycle. LCA provides an adequate instrument for environmental decision support. Reliable LCA performance is crucial to achieve a sustainable economy.(UNEP)
Content (course unit)
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)is a technique for assessing thepotentialenvironmental aspects and potential aspects associated with a product (or service), by: compiling aninventoryof relevant inputs and outputs, evaluatingthe potential environmental impacts associated with those inputs and outputs, interpretingthe results of the inventory and impact phases in relation to the objectives of the study (ISO 14040).
