Objectives (course unit)
Student
- can name the essential legislation pertaining to laboratory work
- identifies the elements of biological, physical, chemical and mental danger
- should be able to ensure the safety of the client, her/himself, other personnel and the environment
- become familiar with the basic equipment used in laboratory work as well as their operation, use and quality assurance principles
- acquire the basic knowledge and skills needed in preparing laboratory pure water and handling reagents in laboratory work
- knows how to give first aid to the most common diseases and accidents to people of different ages

- legislation, statutes and other norms
- laboratory work hazards and protection against them
- laboratory chemicals; handling and safety, warning labels and MSDS
- basic laboratory instruments

Safety at work: Agreed at the beginning of the course
Laboratory Techniques: Agreed at the beginning of the course
First Aid: Announced in the fall
Occupational Safety Card training in each section includes a short exam
Resit Days: Will be agreed in the autumn
Evaluation methods and criteria
Exams, assignments, participation in exercises and propably study visit
First aid: 100% attendance and active participation in exercises + adopted exam completion.

Assessment criteria - fail (0) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
Does not attend classes (occupational safety), does not do tasks, does not get through the exams.
Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
Students will have the presence of the required lessons, restore the role of incomplete and late, guidance, must täydennyttä to an acceptable level, exams satisfactory result.
The student will perform first aid in a cross from the date satisfactorily.
Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
Student participation and restore tasks and their content varies, but the control reaches a good level and the results of exams H level.
The student will perform first aid in a cross from the date well.
Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
The student is very actively involved in classes, participate in discussions and restore the written assignments on time. Task responses are well structured, and the issue is addressed thoroughly. Examinations performed commendably.
First aid practical training day student is very active and will take a first aid group activities actively push forward.
