Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to model the operation of a process or a system using
- state variables
- energy balance calculations
The student is able to use enthalpy and entropy tables and diagrams.
The student knows the basics of radiation physics, radiation dose quantities and radiation safety.
The student knows the responsibilities of radiation safety officer and regulations and laws and decrees related to radiation safety.
Content (course unit)
State variables, processes, laws of thermodynamics, energy balance calculations, use of tables and diagrams in thermodynamics. Ionizing radiation, sealed sources and x-ray machines, interaction of radiation with matter, biological effects of radiation, regulations, laws and decrees related to radiation safety.
