Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to
- know the structure and essence of public administration
- know the Finnish health care system and its objectives and the legislation related to health care and health care professionals
- know different forms of group communication, such as meetings and negotiations, and master the tasks related to different roles (chair, secretary, negotiator, participant etc.)
- work in different group communication situations and express their own view taking into account other participants’ diverse starting points and data protection

Content (course unit)

Administration of the state and municipalities and their roles in health care
Sectors of the health care system: primary health care, special health care, and private health care and financing of health care
Laws regulating health care: Health Care Act, Act on Specialized Medical Care, Mental Health Act, Act on the Status and Rights of Patients, Personal Data Act, Act on Health Care Professionals, legislation on private health care and treatment injuries
Personal communications image, group dynamics, culture
Professional interaction
Group communication skills and communication situations in working life
