Objectives (course unit)
Students are familiar with the main aspects of being an entrepreneur. They know how to set up a business as a sole trader, and how to market and price their services. The students understand the importance of copyright and neighbouring right legislation in their own professional field, and can apply this knowledge in a business of their own. They can draw up contracts and understand the main points of contract law. They have a basic knowledge of financial management and taxation, as they apply to sole traders. They can open a tax account and keep it up-dated; they understand how their own freelance work is taxed.
Students are familiar with how work communities are structured in their professional field of interest, and with some principles of administration and other work-related issues. Students are conversant with contracts of employment, job application procedures, and the legislation and other regulations which apply to their field of work. They have planned a personal career path for their chosen profession.
