Objectives (course unit)

Students
- are familiar with different suitable research and data acquisition methods for physiotherapy
- know the basics of statistics
- can analyse research reports from a statistical viewpoint
- can use Finnish and international sources in planning their own thesis
- prepare empirical data acquisition in connection to their own thesis topic following scientific principles

Assessment methods and criteria

Tutkimustyön menetelmät -osuus arvioidaan opiskelijan laatimalla metodiesseellä hyväksytty/hylätty
Tilastotieteen menetelmät -arvioidaan kokeella hyväksytty/hylätty

Teaching methods

Tutkimustyön menetelmät: luennot, tehtävät ja ryhmätyöt.
Tilastotieteen menetelmät: luennot, harjoitukset, verkkotehtävät.

Further information

Tilastotieteen menetelmien osuudessa hyödynnetään SPSS-tilastoanalyysiohjelmaa. Tunnit pidetään tietokoneluokassa.

Assessment criteria - pass/fail (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Metodiesseessä opiskelijan tulee käyttää vähintään kolmea lähdettä, joiden avulla hän kriittisesti perustelee tekemänsä valinnat kahden tai useamman eri tutkimusmetodin käytön sopivuudesta valitsemansa aiheen tutkimiseen./ Hylätty: Opiskelija ei ole käyttänyt tarpeeksi lähteitä ja perustelut sekä aiheen käsittely metodiesseessä on pinnallista.
Tilastotieteen osuudessa opiskelijan on osattava soveltaa tilastotieteen menetelmiä käytännön kokeessa, joka suoritetaan tietokoneella SPSS-ohjelmaa hyödyntäen. Hyväksytty suoritus edellyttää vähintään kokeesta puolia tehtävistä oikein.
