Introduction to Networks (3 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to:
- configure IP settings based on the output data provided on the network devices.
- connect your computer to a network and test the functionality of your computer's network connection
- interpret topological images of computer networks
- collect and analyze the data network traffic.
- enable Enterprise Networking Devices (Basic Settings).
- describe the different layers of the tcp / ip model and their significance on the general level.
- implement a small local area network
- justify the operation of the information network, using the key terms consistently

Tietoliikenneverkot ja –väylät, tietoliikenneprotokollat, tiedonsiirron perusteet, tietoturvan perusteet.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Arviointi perustuu laboratoriotyöskentelyyn, kappaletesteihin, työkokeeseen ja teoriakokeeseen.

Student workload

3 opintopistettä -> 81 tuntia opiskelijan työtä. Noin puolet opiskelijan työmäärästä on ohjattua laboratoriotyöskentelyä ja tapahtuu koululla, loput itsenäistä työskentelyä. Työmäärä jakautuu melko tasaisesti koko syksyn ajalle ja opiskelijan oletetaan käyttävän viikoittain 13-14 tuntia aikaa opintojakson asioiden opiskeluun (lähiopetus+itsenäinen työskentely).
