Objectives (course unit)

The student

- is familiar with the characteristics of various forms of art (literature, visual art, theatre, music, dance, film, photography)
- understands the basic principles of artistic expression: theory, practical skills, emotions and intentions
- is aware of the possibilities of using creative methods for enhancing and developing communities, environments and the everyday life of people
- is capable of analyzing his/her experiences in art via study material and discussions
- is capable of using creative methods as tools to develop his/her personality
- is aware of the nature and qualities of his/her own individual expression

Content (course unit)

The content

- the basic concepts of art for the practice of social work
- the difference between therapy and therapeutic
- experiencing art and sharing those experiences with others
- the use and importance of emotions in social work
- various creative methods in theory and practice
- types of drama: process drama, storytelling
- music around us: individual, community, environment, everyday life
- movement as a part of health and well-being
- visual methods as tools for self-expression and communication
