Objectives (course unit)

The students know how to select an electric motor type and model as well as controlling the most common applications of machine automation. Together with the course on electric design, the students learn how to create control circuits and installation diagrams. The students gain an overview on how to apply electronics in machine automation. The students learn how to select electric equipment for the most common applications.

Content (course unit)

Electrical drive design. Electrical documentation. Electric motor physics. Stepping motor. Permanent magnet DC motor. Brushless DC motor. Three-phase induction motor. Motor controlling, motor controllers and actuators. Induction motor inverter. Basics of power electronics.
