Objectives (course unit)

The student knows
- targets of coating and surface sizing
- raw materials of coating
- the coating and surface sizing technology of paper and paper boards. - the interaction between the properties of coated paper and the coating color raw materials
- plan and calculate coating colour formula
- applying and metering methods and drying strategy of coating layer, process and quality control of coating.

Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student can choose raw materials for the different coating colour formulas. Can plan the different coating colour used in different applications.
Can calculate coating colour or surface sizing reciepes. Can understand and use the parameters of coating process (eg. coating machine).
Can produce technicaly high level the written reports.
