Objectives (course unit)
The student
-is able to evaluate his/her own and others’ values, attitudes and expectations regarding ageing and its effects on nursing, and intervenes to correct possible flaws if necessary;
-knows the service system structure for elderly people and its operational principles;
-knows the normal changes caused by ageing and can distinguish them from pathological ones;
-knows essential gerontological nursing methods and related technological applications;
-is able to guide aged people and significant others in health promotion;
-is able to act as a nursing expert in multidisciplinary teams.
