Engineering Finnish language and communication (3 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Students
• can evaluate their communication skills
• can take advantage of the feedback given
• understand the importance of communication skills and communication processes
• understand what purposeful communication is
• want to develop their skills in Finnish and communication as a part of their professional skills
• can cope in the communication situations of their own field
• can give and receive feedback in working life communication situations
• can listen to, observe and interpret communication
• know the importance of the internal and external communication in a community
• has expert communication skills: the message is structured, understandable and convincing
• can take into account the demands of the respondent, situation and the field
• can argue and have an impact
• can acquire and use information of their own field critically
• can create a written and spoken presentation for a target audience and also, if required, include visual aids
• know the working life text types and ways to use language
• use the language of their field following the practices and guidelines
• work in professional communication situations responsibly and within agreed methods of conduct
• understand the impact of culture in communication and the significance of collaborating with people from various cultural backgrounds

• basics of spoken communication (theory and practice)

jatkuva näyttö
Hyväksyttyyn arvosanaan vaaditaan aktiivista läsnäoloa opetuksessa -> läsnäolovelvoite 80 %.
Kirjalliset ja suulliset tehtävät sekä arvioitavat puhe-esitykset on suoritettava ohjeiden ja vaatimusten mukaisesti hyväksytysti.

Student workload

Lähiopetusta on kolme tuntia viikossa, lisäksi opiskelija valmistelee puhe-esityksiä ja kirjallisia tehtäviä.

Kurssin aikataulu, jaksotus ja arviointiperusteet esitellään, ja tarvittaessa muokataan, toteutuksen ensimmäisellä lähiopetuskerralla.

Opiskelija on suorittanut kaikki tehtävät hyvin aikataulun mukaisesti. Hän osoittaa aktiivisuutta ja perustelee näkemyksensä. Hänen suorituksensa ovat annettujen ohjeiden mukaan tilanteen ja vastaanottajan huomioivia ja rakenteeltaan toimivia.

Opiskelija on suorittanut kaikki tehtävät erinomaisesti sovittuja aikatauluja noudattaen ja osallistunut tuntiopetukseen aktiivisesti sekä rakentavasti. Hän viestii vakuuttavasti, innostuneesti ja vuorovaikutteisesti sekä perustelee mielipiteensä monipuolisesti. Hänen käyttämänsä kieli on miltei virheetöntä ja tyyliltään moitteetonta.
