Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to
- describe as a complete entity the heat requirements of buildings
- describe the functions of different types of systems for producing and distributing heat
- apply regulations and guidelines concerning heating systems for buildings
- compare different heating systems according to different needs
- describe the operating principles of a water circulating heating system
- dimension the components in a water circulating heating system
- identify different kinds of control and adjustment methods for heating systems

Content (course unit)

Calculations for the needs of energy and energy balance. Creating energy performance certificates for a building permit. The functions of a central water-heating network. Regulations and guidelines as basis for planning, realising and using heating systems, the structure and dimensioning of heating networks, components of heat production and distribution, and their dimensioning and selection.
