Objectives (course unit)

The student
-becomes competent to communicate professionally with clients and families suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse problems in diverse life situations and with diverse cultural backgrounds;
-becomes competent to identify and bring up the signs and symptoms caused by mental health and substance abuse problems in different age groups;
-becomes competent to assess the need of care or rehabilitation in collaboration with the client and the family;
-becomes competent to act in collaboration with persons suffering from mental health and substance abuse problems;
- learns to reflect on professional use of his/her own personality and recognise his/her developmental challenges.
