Objectives (course unit)
The goal of the bachelor's thesis is to develop and show the students’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills in the practical expert tasks relating to their professional studies. During the bachelor's thesis process the students prove themselves to be capable of working independently, of applying what they have learned and of learning new things independently.
Content (course unit)
The bachelor's thesis may be a designing task, development task, clarification task or a research task. The chosen topic must be closely connected to the students’ specialization studies.
Typically the bachelor's thesis consists of the actual work, a written report and an oral presentation of the work, the engineering work seminar.
In order to receive the polytechnic degree, the students must write a maturity test about their chosen field of final thesis. The maturity test shows familiarity with the field and the skills in Finnish or Swedish. The students will also present the work in a seminar.

Basic studies and professional studies linked to the bachelor's thesis subjects.
