Objectives (course unit)
After completing this course student is able to:
- understand basic terminology of geometry
- solve a scalene triangle
- calculate areas and volumes of two- and three-dimensional objects
- determine the center of mass of a plane region
- perform basic vector calculations
- apply vectors to technical problems
- perform calculations with complex numbers
Content (course unit)
Terminology of Geometry, Solving a Scalene Triangle, Areas and Volumes, Center of Mass of a Plane Region, Similarity, Scale, Vectors and Applications, Complex Numbers
Prerequisites (course unit)
Orientation for engineering mathematics or similar skills.
Exam schedules
Exam will be held on Wednesday 3rd of November and it will be
returned on Thursday 5th of November. There will be two resit exams during the 2nd period on Wednesdays 18th of November 2015 and 9th of December 2015. Enrollment at least 4 days before the exam in TenttiWilho.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Grading (0-5) is based on weekly exercises and final exam. Maximum score for the exam is 36 points, and additional points (max 3) are awarded for completing weekly homework exercises. To pass the course a student has to get at least 12 points in the exam.
