Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to tutor students who begin their studies at TAMK and knows the student services and study practices in TAMK. The student is also able to guide a group of students. He /She works together with TAMK personnel and is able to work in many communication situations.
Content (course unit)
The course includes the actual training period and after that the period of independent work. The training includes group guidance, grouping activities, performance skills, knowledge of student’s own degree programme in TAMK and social and educational matters. In independent work students attend the students’ union Tamko’s events, keep in contact with their tutorees and meet them monthly. In the end they write a final report of tutoring.

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation of the Cource: Accepted / Failed
The course includes the training period and continues with independent work. Course feedback is required. The trainings are mandatory.
Accepted course completion requires an accepted final report on the course and fulfilling the other obligations stated in the contract.

Content scheduling
The training period (~2 weeks) includes group guidance, grouping activities, performance skills, knowledge of students’ own degree programme in TAMK and social and educational matters.
Independent work period (~9 months) includes attending the student union Tamko’s events, monthly meetings and other communication with the group and the final report.

The training will take place during the independent work in co-operation with TAMK personnel (especially the tutor teachers) and the students of one’s own tutor group.

Further information
In the beginning of the course the students are to sign a degree tutoring contract with the students’ union Tamko. In the contract there are stated e.g. the obligation to attend the trainings, events, group meetings and writing a final report on the course.
