Communications and Teaching (7 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The students know how to communicate responsibly as members of a group and as experts of their field. They are able to take into account the communication environment and channels. They are able to search for information for communications purposes, the development of their professional skills and understand the significance of critical evaluation of information. The students are able to use different types of texts and standards as required by different tasks, to summarise their ideas and to use grammatically correct language. The students can act as responsible communicators in meetings and negotiations and to draw up reports and documents of different situations. The students are able to develop their competence in communication based on self- and peer evaluation.

Content (course unit)

The students improve their skills through different types of tasks done in groups and individually. The students learn more about different registers of communication and text types. The students learn about summarising, network communications and process writing. They familiarise themselves with expert reporting and presentation and learn the basics of information literacy and ethically sound summarising. The students study the practices of negotiations and meetings and improve their conversational skills. The students make sure they know the proper use of language and grammar.
