Objectives (course unit)
The student learns basic principles of biorefining processes and understands the potential of biomass in different end-use products, especially wood based biomass.
Content (course unit)
Introduction to biorefineries
Potential of wood based biomass
Potential of plant based biomass
Most important side streams of pulp processing

Evaluation methods and criteria
Learning outcome reports individually after each session. In the end of the course a summary report. Dead lines need to be followed.

Lectures given by several professionals of Biorefinery.
Learning materials
Material and reports in Tabula.
Student workload
Seven contact sessions at TAMK according to the time schedule introduced at the first lessons.
Excursion to St1.
The students give learning outcomes after each lesson and put it in Tabula.
The missed lessons will be replaced by a report which deals with the same topic as the missed lesson and is given in Tabula according to the time table.
A final report is given by the end of April 2015.
