Objectives (course unit)

Music analysis:
Students are capable of perceiving, analysing and and describing large-scale and complex structures of western classical music from various stilistic eras. They understand and have an ability to take advantage of music analysis literature and to independently increase and deepen their analytical skills in music.

Dramaturgy (Music Theatre study path)
Students understand the basic concepts of dramaturgy and they are capable of analyzing theatre plays. Students are capable of distinguish and compare different ways to outline a play, subject, scene and storyline.

Music Analysis
- excercises in music analysis
- literature in music analysis

Dramaturgy
- analytical reading of plays and manuscripts
- analytical watching of movies

Assessment methods and criteria

The Student has participated in the teaching and attended classes 80%. He/ she/ they has achieved the aims of the course.

Dramaturgy
- lectures
- basic concepts, their interpretation and application and history
- application of basic concepts of dramaturgy to the analysis of traditional drama, postmodern theater performance, clutural performances and media rituals
- analytic reading of plays and manuscripts
- critical, exploratory viewing of films

Student workload

Attendance 80%. Absences must be agreed with the teacher.
