Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to
- define the basic concepts of organic and inorganic chemistry
- describe different forms of combustion and corrosion
- deduce from the test results the usability of a material in different environments
Content (course unit)
The internal structure of matter and the basic concepts in chemistry. States of matter and their changes, gas laws, mixtures and solutions, chemical reactions (especially combustion), thermal chemistry, acids and bases, electrochemistry, environmental chemistry (harmful substances), the basics of organic chemistry, plastics, especially the chemistry of materials and the resistance to corrosion/environment. Inhibition.
