Objectives
The student is able to tutor TAMK’s new exchange students and knows the student services and study practices in TAMK. The student is also able to guide a group of students. Students works together with TAMK personnel and is able to work in many communication situations.
Content
Course includes training sessions and after that independent work. Trainings include info about group guidance, communication skills, knowledge about cultural differences, info about TAMK’s services for international students and working together with exchange students in different situations.
Independent work includes tutoring assigned exchange students when arriving to Tampere, monthly meetings and communication with tutees, attending to international events, and writing final report of tutoring.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
Pass:
Student has participated trainings, worked as an International Tutor for incoming exchange students and keep in touch with the tutees monthly during the semester, participated international events and filled final report.
The student is able to tutor TAMK’s new exchange students and knows the student services and study practices in TAMK. The student is also able to guide a group of students.
Student works together with TAMK personnel and is able to work in many communication situations.
Fail: The criteria mentioned above are not met.
