Objectives (course unit)

This course introduces the most important calculations in the early stages of the company, the choice of company form and its effects, as well as tips for building sustainable business and choosing a good accounting firm.

After the course student
- has basic understanding of company's finances
- will master the basic indicators of company economics
- can make decisions based on economical indicators
- is able to plan financially sustainable business

The ABC of Entrepreneurial Finance course consists of three different sections and feedback.

3. Taxation & YEL, Choosing & cooperating with accountant

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Approved when student has demonstrated successful work towards the learning outcomes: understands the basics of entrepreneurial finance, can apply entrepreneurial finance into practise and have completed the learning assignments in Moodle.

Failed if student has not succeeded in understanding the basics of the entrepreneurial finance. Student has not mastered the learning outcomes in a way that could take entrepreneurial finance into practise. Has not completed the learning assignments in Moodle.

Assessment methods and criteria

Passed, when you have demonstrated successful work towards the learning outcomes: you understand the basics of entrepreneurial finance. You can assess your take your understanding of entrepreneurial finance into practice. You have completed the learning assignments in Moodle, based on the course materials.

Failed, if you have not succeeded in understanding basics of the entrepreneurial finance. You have not mastered the learning outcomes in a way that you could take your understanding of entrepreneurial finance into practice. You have not completed the learning assignments in Moodle.

Teaching methods

Self learning. This course is done completely online (Moodle) and independently. You can complete it at your own pace, at a time that suits you. The course needs to be completed on 31.8.2025 at the latest.

This Moodle is open 1.8.2024 - 31.8.2025.

This course is done completely online and independently in Moodle, and you can complete it at your own pace, at a time that suits you. You can start the course right away on Moodle. You don’t have to wait to be accepted on the course, you can start studying when you want.

In order to get the credits, you also have to sign up officially in Pakki (TAMK Students) / Cross-Institutional Service (TAU Students). Please note that during the holiday seasons there are delays in the awarding of credits.

! TAU-student: Cross-Institutional Service will be closed on 31st of May – 31st of July. During that period, you can already start and do the course on Moodle. In August you have to sign up officially in Cross-Institutional Service and after that coach will register you and you will get your credits.

NOTE: Studies completed during the summer will be checked and credits will be marked latest in the end of August.
