Objectives

On completion of this course, the student is able to: name the common secondary aggregates produced in Finland and their generation processes describe the most relevant technical properties of secondary aggregates and criteria of environmental acceptability, and their testing methodsdescribe a broad outline of the up-to-date legislation and administrative proceedings / authority procedures of use of waste materials and by-productsevaluate the suitability of secondary aggregates to earth construction based on economical, technical and environmental criteriaexplain how the use of secondary aggregates should be allowed for in various design phases and the procurement procedure of a construction project apply what they have learned in a design of a infra structure using  secondary aggregatefind relevant and up-to-date information from reliable field-specific sources and use it critically, and discuss with relevant arguments on Circular Economy

Further information

Students familiarize themselves with the Circular Economy of the infrastructure construction, secondary aggregates and their applications through weekly quizzes, lectures given by students and experts and assignments. Attendance at 80% of lectures is compulsory.
