Objectives
The students will develop a comprehensive knowledge of political leadership and political processes. Students understand the specific features of political leadership as well as the challenges facing leadership in general. Students can analyse political decision-making as a process comprising several stages. Students are familiar with policy analysis as a scientific approach that can be used to study policy-making and the societal effects of the decisions.
Content
The course unit consists of two mutually supportive approaches. The first approach focuses on political leadership and its special features in relation to societal leadership in general as well as on the personal, organizational and contextual factors that influence the success of political leaders. The second one deals with political decision-making as a multi-stage process and with policy analysis as a theoretical and methodological approach in political science.
