Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be able to explain the central discourse in court interpreting situations and will communicate in both working languages in a manner that is appropriate to the situation. In court interpreting situations, the student will use terms, vocabulary and typical expressions related to preliminary investigation, criminal and civil law, and matters related to immigration, in a natural and effective way. The student will demonstrate certainty, initiative, judgement, and an eye for detail in interpreting situations. They will be able to handle demanding court interpreting situations, anticipate and classify interpreting problems, and resolve them. The student will interpret accurately and comprehensively. They will employ the most suitable interpreting methods and techniques, and use them appropriately in court interpreting situations. The student will also be able to work with the specific characteristics of remote interpreting.
Content
In this course unit, the student will practise interpreting and demonstrate their proficiency in it. The course will explore the discourse and use of specialised terminology, vocabulary, and typical expressions in court interpreting situations. The course will also cover the use of different interpreting methods, techniques, and remote interpreting in court interpreting situations. The student will become familiar with analysing interpreting situations.
