Objectives

After completing this course the student...Understands the relevance and value of usability and user experience for people as users of information technology, for software business, and for the society as a whole, and how these concepts are influenced by various contextual and personal factors.​Recognizes different ways of human-technology interaction. Has knowledge of the history of human-technology interaction. Is aware of interaction trends and the role of ethics and sustainability in design.​Knows how to apply human-centred design methods in practice: applying models of human-technology interaction; creating preliminary sketches of user interfaces; utilizing design and evaluation principles in expert evaluation.​Understands common practices in usability and user experience work in relation to agile product development.​

Content

1) Key terminology in the field of human-technology interaction, 2) Design principles and guidelines to support design and evaluation of user interfaces, 3) Practicing UI sketching with a digital tool, 4) Conducting and reporting a heuristic evaluation of a website.​

Prerequisites

None.

Further information

This introductory course is suitable for all students without previous knowledge in human-technology interaction. The course is typically taken during the Bachelor studies.​
