Objectives
Climate.now is an interdisciplinary course on the fundamentals of climate change. The goal is for the course to be suitable for various students.After completing the course, students will have knowledge of climate change as a natural phenomenon, how it can be mitigated, and how to adapt to it. Following the course, students will be able to address climate change as a global challenge and a challenge related to their own field of study. Students will also understand climate change in relation to their own impact and will be able to critically address issues related to climate change and its ethics.
Content
Core Content:The student understands the scientific fundamentals of climate change: the functioning of the climate system, its history, and its future.The student is familiar with the key impacts of climate change.The student can list and understand the main measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change.Supplementary Knowledge:The student understands the impact of human activity emissions on the climate system.The student can assess the key effects of climate change on the economy.The student can explain the concepts of sustainability change and systemic change thinking and can use these concepts to address climate change-related problems.Specialized Knowledge:The student comprehends the effects of climate change on conflicts and displacement.The student is familiar with and understands the concepts of emissions trading and knows the international agreements related to it.
