Objective of course:
Students learn the significance of holistic health care and nursing for children, adolescents and their families. They know the normal growth and development of children and adolescents, as well as the possible disorders in these processes. Students learn to support children, adolescents and their families in different situations like sudden or chronic illness, disablement and rehabilitation. They learn to support children, adolescents and their families in daily self care, in the existence and quest of self-realization, sexuality, and birth control. Students recognize the ethical issues related to the death of a child or an adolescent. Students become aware of the influence health care, social services, and voluntary organizations have on the health and wellbeing of children, adolescents and their families. Students learn the most common diseases related to children, their treatments and pharmacology. Students are capable of adapting their theoretical knowledge in multicultural child health care, and pediatric nursing during their supervised clinical training in a multiprofessional team.
