Objectives
The students learn to understand mathemathical connections between different stresses and deformations in beam. They are able to calculate the deflections of statically determinate beam by using different methods and how to choose bet-ween them. They learn to know the principles of statically indeterminate structu-res, to analyze them and to draw internal force diagrams of beams and fra-mes.The students learn the principles of plastic analysis of beams.
Content
Mathematical connections between stresses and strains in statically determinate beam. Differential equations of the beams deflection curve and solving it by using double integration method. Deflections of beams by the conjugate-beam method, using discontinuity functions and unit load method. Principles of statically indeter-minate structures and analysis of beam by using force method, displacement method, moment distribution method and tables. Plastic bending and analysis of a beam.
