Objectives

The students are able to critically analyse documentaries in political and historical context. The students recognise period specific cultural, ideological, expressional and technical elements from films. The students understand the importance of viewpoint in a documentary.

How the most important ideological and political aspects of the 20th century can be seen in the history of documentary films. Documentary film genre development from the 20th century to the present day in European, American and Russian documentaries. Technological and productive development. The role of documentary films in different eras.
