Basics of Timber Procurement (5cr)

Objectives

Student knows different stages of wood procurement. He/ She understand how wood procurement have to organised when cut to length method is used. He/She knows machinery used in logging and transportation. He/She knows planning principles of wood procurement. He/She understand the role of wood reserving in wood procurement. He/She knows basics about automation and optimisation tools in harvesters. He/She basics of laws dealing with measuring of timber. He/She is able to do measuring amount of logs and pulpwood in storage sites and do control measurements for harvester .

Harvesting methods, harvesting machinery, transportation machinery, basics of planning and executing of harvesting operations, laws of timber measuring, storages, value optimisation of timber assortments in mechanical harvesting.
